And I'm Alex, and today we're going to answer how big can a treehouse be? Dad, have you ever had a treehouse? I haven't. Have you ever had a treehouse?
Lucy:
No, Do you like stories?
Alex:
I do like stories.
Lucy:
This week we are reviewing the 13-story treehouse.
Alex:
Well, that sounds like an interesting title. Who wrote it?
Lucy:
The author is Andy Griffiths and the illustrator is Terry Denton.
Alex:
And what type of genre is it?
Lucy:
It's a chapter book with a lot of pictures. It's for kids approximately eight years old and older.
Alex:
Wait, how old are you?
Lucy:
Eight and a half.
Alex:
So it's perfect for you, right.
Lucy:
Yes, but I read it in second grade.
Alex:
OK, and. I was seven and you were seven, so you got right under the cutoff, huh.
Lucy:
Yeah, maybe.
Alex:
What is the story behind you finding out about this book series and what exactly happened, Lucy?
Lucy:
My mom asked for book recommendations from her sixth grade students. One boy recommended this book series. He said that he liked them when he was in elementary school. My mom bought it, and it sat on my shelves for months. Eventually, my mom said that we should donate it to my class, and then my classmate Raelyn, after I read it. She decided to read it, and both of us loved it. So then I kept reading it.
Alex:
Awesome. What are some of the main characters of this story and this treehouse?
Lucy:
The main characters are Andy and Terry.
Alex:
Andy and Terry. Ok, and what connection, if any, do you have with the characters?
Lucy:
Not at all. They are way sillier than I am. They even have a marshmallow shooter.
Alex:
What I want a marshmallow shooter. Yes, I do too. That would be really cool, ok, so why don't you explain the name of the book to us?
Lucy:
The 13-story tree. The 13-story treehouse. The treehouse has 13 stories, like 13 floors high. It has all kinds of things Like an inside bowling alley, a see-through swimming pool, a tank full of man-eating sharks, what In a secret underground laboratory, a vegetable vaporizer and a marshmallow machine that shoots marshmallows into your mouth when it sees that you are hungry. Each book has 13 stories added to it. The 26-story treehouse.
Alex:
So the second book is called the 26th story tree house and so on and so on, and so on. So if you added 13 to 26, what would it be?
Lucy:
5276.
Alex:
Alright so it just keeps going right, yeah, okay. So what were some of the funny parts that you liked?
Lucy:
one funny part when they got the sea monkey eggs mixed up with the monster mermaid eggs, the monster mermaid hatched and then Terry fell in love with her, but he thought that she was a mermaid.
Alex:
It sounds like monster mermaids might be troublemakers. Tell us more about her.
Lucy:
She's a sea monster disguised as a mermaid and she thinks that humans are stupid and disgusting. Andy figures this out and tells it Terry.
Alex:
Does he believe him when he first tells them? No they never do, do they? Sometimes, love is blind. Would you recommend this book to another person?
Lucy:
Yes, I would recommend this book to silly to school, to silly school age kids and anybody likes monsters with mermaids or wants a marshmallow shooter yes, when you're hungry.
Alex:
Or Someone that wants a laboratory. Do you think the Thundermen's would like to be in this place? Yes which Thundermen would like it the most. Every thunderman no, who would want it to be a secret? Lair Max Love this tree house.
Lucy:
Yeah.
Alex:
All right, lucy. Do you have anything else to say about the book that you like or dislike about you? Is there anything you didn't like about the book?
Lucy:
I liked it but, but I have nothing to say that I don't like about it, cuz I love it.
Alex:
Okay, so you really like, I like Okay, and you've read multiple books. Yes, and is it the same tree house? Do they just make it more? Yes, okay. So so, folks, if you want to start out with a really good kids book, 13 story, tree house sounds like it gives Two thumbs up from Lucy. It looks like three thumbs up.
Alex:
I can't do three or four, because you have two big toes for thumbs up for thumbs up, and I really think that that's important because you start one place and every book you kind of know what's gonna happen In terms of it's a great starting point. So the second book, which we're not reviewing right now you already know about the 13 levels. Let's see what else happens, right? Yep, okay, were the parents ever talked about?
Lucy:
Yes, they were, the parents were talked about. So Andy and Terry, they were talking about it and then they figured it out that they knew each other before they started the tree house. So, like Terry, his parents were really protective. One day he just started to jump out of a window and Then he fell into the sea. Andy was like there because he was like at the beach or I forget. He was somewhere around there. And then he caught Terry and he caught Terry.
Alex:
And then, yeah, they was so was the tree house in somebody's backyard, or was it somewhere else?
Lucy:
They had a tree and then they made it a tree house.
Alex:
But where was the tree? Was it in behind somebody's house, or was it on somebody's House, or was it somewhere?
Lucy:
No, it was just in a forest.
Alex:
Oh, it was a tree in the forest, okay, and so they never actually talk about the parents.
Lucy:
No, not yet.
Alex:
Okay, and there's no other characters. It's just the two of them in the sea monster I.
Lucy:
In the book yes. There is the monkeys and Jill, their neighbor and what does Jill do? She takes care of animals. That's all you got and she helps Andy and Terry sometimes. Okay, sometimes.
Alex:
Well, that's great. I love that you know so much about this book, and and I love the fact that you've given it for thumbs up, so to speak. Two thumbs, two toes to toe, two pinky toe or two big toes. Lucy, why don't you tell the listeners how they can buy the book?
